Larry Gard portrays an archeologist in his storytelling version of The Curse of King Tut's Tomb. The tale is being performed as part of CSTC's spring, 2007, storytelling series The Best of CSTC Storytelling, running through May 14. Also performing as part of the series are Katie Laibstain in Lost in the Snow, Stephen Seals in How the Sea Got Salt, Beauregard Rue Marie in The Story of Perseus, and Jen Meharg in The Raising of the Sky. SOME GOALS OF THE CARPENTER SCIENCE THEATRE COMPANY:


To effectively use live theatre as an interpretive tool and an educational device within the museum's gallery settings.

To develop, produce and perform appropriate live theatre productions in the Science Museum of Virginia and its two satellite museums: the Virginia Aviation Museum and the Danville Science Center.

To partner with other theatre companies in the production of popular scripts that communicate appropriate messages to young people about exploration, discovery and the scientific process.

To support the use of live theatre as an interpretive tool and an educational device within schools and other museums.

Adanma Onyedike and Reginald Tyrone Johnson appear above in a scene from the 2001 CSTC world premiere production of North Star Light: Pathways to Freedom, written by Jon Lipsky and directed by Foster Solomon. The company will mount it's 4th production of this powerful script in February of 2005.

The Carpenter Science Theatre Company handbook, written by Larry Gard, provides important information about the company's policies and internal creative process to contractors, museum staff and anyone else who may wish to be familiar with this information. Handbook topics include CSTC's job responsibilities for artists, the process used at SMV for script development and workshopping, the company's history, information regarding process vs. product oriented theatre, etc. Please e-mail if you wish to receive a copy ($8.00 will be invoiced for binding, printing & postage). Are you an actor interested in paid work? Whether or not we currently have auditions scheduled, if you are a non-union professional actor seeking employment, you are encouraged to telephone CSTC artistic director Larry Gard at (804) 864-1533 to schedule an audition in Richmond. You will be given an audition date and time. For your audition, you must bring two contrasting monologues to perform, along with an 8" x 10" photo and a resume. Pay for CST actors currently starts at $80.00 per performance day. For those of you who are not in the Richmond, VA area, if we want your talent in this company, we will possibly: 1) Pay your transportation to come to work in Richmond; 2) Assist you in finding housing here (but you must pay all your own room and board); and 3) Do our best to supplement your contract pay as a CST actor by helping you find additional work that may or may not be performance related.
